This campaign is based on studies that show physical exercise can help to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms and it will help in curbing that possible weight gain we associate with giving up those smoke sticks!
I’m going to sum up the campaign for you but you really should check out the website!
Quit and get fit was launched March 3 and runs until April 30th. With the campaign they launched a new iPhone App that challenges players to use their lung capacity to play a sports-related game.. there’s a funny YouTube video you can watch (I posted it below) You can connect to them through Facebook to learn about key information that has to do with the campaign. Their Facebook page also features a link to download the new iPhone App.
What better way to lose weight and get into shape then joining the gym, well guess what? They thought of ways to help you with that too. They teamed up with GoodLife Fitness to offer members and non-members the opportunity, at no charge, to participate in a Quit & Get Fit program at 20 of its locations across Ontario. Participants will receive a series of complimentary personal training sessions that combine smoking cessation support with fitness and health information.
Quit & Get Fit will run until April 30, 2011 at select GoodLife locations in Belleville, Cambridge, Chatham, Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Milton, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Stratford, Toronto, Waterloo and Windsor. In return for enrollment in the Quit & Get Fit program, participants are asked to complete a series of online surveys about their smoking and physical fitness status so that the program can be fully evaluated.
So if you’re thinking of quitting smoking and/or joining the gym, why not do both!
Great idea, love it! Enjoy the video and hopefully I’ll see some of you at GoodLife Fitness here in Ottawa!
